For the JAG Composites SFH Handguard this is exactly what has been done. Taking advantage of the ability of carbon fiber tape to enhance the strength in a specific direction, the SFH Handguard has been optimized for bending in a similar fashion to an aircraft wing. This is all while maintaining the same form factor as the original. We also have switched to using black hardware for a nicer aesthetic.

So I previously bought the KE arms carbon fiber handguard for my WWSD build through Brownells, but it arrived defective, in that it would tilt downward noticeably. The customer service guy at KE arms offered to fix it for me, but at my own expense, so I returned it instead through Brownells. I bought this handguard after seeing good reviews on reddit, and it looks and feels significantly better than the KE arms CF handguard. The finish is better, the milling around the m-lok slots is far superior, and the way it attaches to the barrel nut is better. The KE arms handguard had a weird, plasticky finish that made the gun feel chinsy and cheap, had ‘bubbled up’ around the m-lok milling, and simply clamped around the barrel nut. The Jag Composites is thinner, with a better finish/milling that makes the gun feel solid, and screws directly into the barrel nut. The only two gripes I had is that I kinda had to slam my upper into a padded table to get the handguard completely onto the nut, so hopefully I don’t have to take apart the upper again for a while… because it will be a pain to get the handguard off the upper. The second is that the bottom 6 o’clock slots were milled to thin, and mlok screws had to take some light hammering to go through. Other than that, the fit and finish and install is great, and even though it was not 100% no hiccups, I still think it’s the best CF handguard on the market right now.

If you’re looking for a quality, carbon, fiber, hand guard this is definitely it I ordered this by pictures alone, and the owners résumé.. all these other carbon fiber, hand guards the M-lok cut outs all looked unfinished, except for this one. I can’t state again how excellent quality of this product is definitely looking to get another one for another build soon.

Love my jag comp handguard. It’s solid, and the he gun shoots very accurately. Would’ve given it 5 stars but holy cow these things are expensive and I bought before biden tanked the dollar. Went to buy a second one but I’m officially priced out. Glad I get to enjoy one!!
